The plant that was Terence's work is now growing on the grave in the shape of a wreath, which Laurie says is "for all the unloved of this earth", as she walks away with James. Ruth and Andrew investigate and find that the corpses are being replaced by mannequins for burial, and that the funeral directors are secretly taking the dismembered carcasses to Chesterton Clinic. Ruth gets permission from her editor to expose the racket and advance her career, and – using her doctor friend's help – is admitted to the clinic as a patient with a feigned diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease.

Ghost Stories With Mark Gatiss review – Halloween horror of the creepiest kind
All of the children are strange - they sleep at odd times, are afraid of fire, roam the woods in the dark, and become disoriented as dusk approaches. Framed pictures of various women in the house are also seen, apparently the mothers of the various children. Tom goes back to their car to collect some things, but is attacked by a half-human creature covered in fur with yellow eyes. When he returns to the house, he and Sarah hear howling coming from the woods. Later that night in their room, Sarah is horrified when she sees the face of a werewolf at the window.

He tries to contact Gwen but, after the recent deaths that have occurred at the estate, Gwen is deeply shaken. Ruth sneaks into the mansion but is discovered by Humphrey Chesterton (Richard Pearson), the owner of the mansion and Chesterton clinic. Surprisingly, she is invited to stay for a dinner party he is throwing for several guests, including Rothwell. She is told that all of the guests are survivors of a well-known plane crash that occurred just over a year ago, and that they meet regularly at the mansion to celebrate and "remember those who died", this being their thirteenth reunion. Frantically she runs to inform Andrew at the funeral home, but finds his corpse there, killed by the funeral directors after he discovered their activities. Mr Willis then appears and tells Ruth that he too was a survivor of the plane crash, before he kills her with a meat cleaver.

Martin, behind his store, runs shady experiments on captured wild animals to train them to become docile, thereby avoiding the need in future to cage them and make 'cageless' zoos. The animals are kept in open cages but the exits are electrified and the animals are conditioned to eat their food only after a bell is heard. Martin wants Chuck to manage the place for a few days while he is out of town. Chuck accepts, but unfortunately greed gets the better of him again when he sees a large safe in the shop. Despite his wife's warnings, he tries to open it, only to fall through a trapdoor into a metal cell with no exit. William Morton, the 10-year-old son of botanist Terence Morton (Gary Bond) and his wife Laurie (Barbara Kellerman), dies after consuming a toxic chemical in his father's lab.
Finding their bedroom door locked, Tom climbs out of the window to investigate, but falls while climbing the drainpipe. Meanwhile, the werewolf enters their bedroom through the house and attacks Sarah as Mrs Ardoy and the children watch in delight. Hammer is an actor who very publicly fell from grace in 2021 after several women who claimed to have had negative sexual experiences with him came forward to tell their stories. His breakout role was as the Winklevoss twins in 2010’s The Social Network. Following that movie, Hammer took starring roles in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, opposite Timotheé Chalamet, with many of his roles fitting into his pretty rich-boy persona. The success of the latter buoyed his career, setting him up with roles opposite Jennifer Lopez in Shotgun Wedding and in The Offer, a series about the making of The Godfather.

What starts as a seemingly straightforward haunted house narrative soon morphs into something much more impish and playful, and while the scene that gives the episode its name might be the most effective gore moment in the whole series, what comes after is arguably even more fun. The Hammer House of Horror approach was always a blend of classic Hammer period horror fun with more modern stories, so it’s fitting that the very first episode of the series involves a literal time warp. Patricia Quinn stars as a witch who manages to magick her way out of being executed in the Middle Ages, only to end up in the same place in the present day, where a lonely composer (Jon Finch) falls prey to her charms.
The episode follows a married couple who adopt a young boy after the death of their son, and the boy’s detached and peculiar demeanor soon leads to strange happenings around the house. It feels like something that should work better than it actually does. Even the obtuse theme music, which starts with a stab of dramatic drums before going into an unexpectedly major-key guitar line that sounds like a Wall’s Viennetta advertisement, adds to the show’s out-of-tune style.
Stella offers to help Edwyn, saying that he needs love, he should send his mother to an old age home and thereafter she will look after him. Edwyn continues to obsess over the number 9, and develops psychosomatic symptoms. He falls into a trance-like state, and sees his colleagues Dr Harris and Markham, Stella, a psychiatrist Dr Manders (Conrad Phillips), conspiring as an evil team wanting him to eat Stella's baby for the devil's sake.
My personal favorite Hammer horror film is The Devil Rides Out, which deals with Satanic rituals and occult pandemonium in full Technicolor glory, so I must admit a certain partiality when it comes to the cult episode of Hammer House of Horror. That said, “Guardian of the Abyss,” the story of various parties vying for control of an antique scrying glass that just might be a doorway to a demonic presence, is one of the most classically Hammer tales in the whole series. It’s just a fun, creepy, straight-ahead occult horror story in the grand Hammer tradition, even if it does drag slightly in places. Hammer Horror is deservedly famous for being a place where distinguished English actors could get absolutely bonkers with fun genre stories, and “Rude Awakening” might actually be the best example of that in all of Hammer House of Horror. The story itself is more interested in strange twists than an actual narrative arc, but Elliott’s wild performance makes the whole thing worth it. Edwyn lives with his cranky-natured mother (Annie Dyson), with a pretty estranged tenant lady Stella (Georgina Hale) and her baby as their neighbour.
One of Hammer’s accusers, Courtney Vucekovich, spoke at length about their relationship and how there was little to no discussion about Armie’s proclivities beforehand. One of them hit an industrial building to the west of Omaha, in Nebraska's Lancaster County, causing it to collapse with 70 people inside. Several were trapped, but everyone was evacuated and the three injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home, in which her husband, Paul Pelosi, was attacked with a hammer.
A year after the gruesome murder-suicide, the mansion was sold to a couple, Emily and Julian Enriquez, who only used the 5,050-square-foot house as a storage site. Neighbors recall seeing the couple bringing boxes to the mansion, but never staying overnight. In 1994, Rudy Enriquez inherited the house and, like his parents, neither stayed nor made any changes to the Perelson’s old decor. Michael Armand Hammer is Chairman Emeritus, and Armie Hammer and Viktor Armand Hammer are Honorary Directors. Michael Rubel serves as President, Nelson C. Rising serves as Vice President, and Steven A. Olsen serves as Treasurer.

Police used a tear gas-like substance, NBC affiliate WWBT of Richmond reported. Video showed officers with riot shields and helmets as protesters held a makeshift line of wooden pallets. The notices handed out Monday, viewed by NBC News and issued to protest participants that morning, asked protesters to identify themselves to a university official and sign a form agreeing to alternative resolution for the university policy violations that the encampment posed. Shafik said the university had offered “to make investments in health and education in Gaza, including supporting early childhood development and support for displaced scholars." She urged those in the encampment to voluntarily disperse. The demonstrators hung a banner outside the building, dubbing it “Hind’s Hall,” to recognize a 6-year-old girl, Hind Rajab, who was found dead in Gaza days after being trapped under Israeli fire. The protestors said they plan to take over Hamilton Hall in honor of Hind and all the Palestinians killed in the war's violence.
Martin had wired the place during his visit and perhaps purposefully allowed them to escape as part of his experiments. The story ends with Chuck and Annie confined within their isolated house shouting desperately for help, and Martin trapped in his shop's basement—in each case, with no one to hear their screams. It describes how neglected he felt, his parents seemingly having been too busy with their work to devote any attention to him.
She vows revenge on all of them for their treachery, as the pile of money bursts into flames. The following day, Tom awakens in a hospital with Sarah who tells him they were in a car crash on their way to the cottage. He asks her about the "family of werewolves" they encountered, but she laughs and tells him he must have been dreaming. She has a voracious appetite for sex and raw steak, saying it's "delicious". Tom confides to his colleague Harry about this and the preceding experiences, and Harry agrees with him that it is unlikely it was all a dream.
She tries to kill another man who picks her up but fails, soon afterwards finds another potential victim in a park (Pierce Brosnan). Clifford and his colleagues suspect Natalie, and search her entire house but find nothing. Afterwards, Clifford feels sorry for suspecting Natalie and invites her to his home for the evening. Natalie accepts his apology but, now dressed as the ancient countess herself, kills Clifford in bed. Chuck Spillers (Brian Cox), after serving two years for burglary, is released from prison with the help of an elderly pet shop owner Martin Blueck (Peter Cushing), who also gives him money and offers him a job in his shop. Chuck and his wife Annie (Elaine Donnelly) are thrilled with the offer.
The Hammer Museum instead sold the 72-page scientific notebook to fund the museum's exhibitions and programs. In 1988 the Grunwald Center received a bequest of over 850 landscape drawings and prints from the collection of Los Angeles–based architect Rudolf L. Baumfeld. Selections from the collection were exhibited at the Hammer in 2003.[29] The 2014 exhibition[30] showcased works from the Elisabeth Dean Collection of 19th and 20th-century works on paper. The collection of approximately 900 prints and illustrated books is among the most significant gifts received by the Grunwald Center in recent years. Effie is the only woman who has publicly alleged that Hammer raped her.
